Each school year, an Educational Route is organized for first- and second-year secondary school students. During this program, students visit companies to gain valuable insights that can help them make an informed decision about their future education. This year, students participating in the Educational Route had the opportunity to visit two companies within the technical sector in small groups.
On Thursday, November 7, we had the pleasure of welcoming these students to Lagersmit and introducing them to the technology behind our products. During their visit, the students got an inside look at our production process and learned about, among other things, our specialized shaft seals.
The tour began with a brief information session about our company and what we do at Lagersmit. During this session, the students had the opportunity to ask questions and learn more before stepping onto the workplace.
On the workplace, the students joined us at our CNC turning and milling machine. Here, they were shown a demonstration of a machining process on a bearing bush. The students assisted in preparing the bush and learned more about the various machines we use.
In addition, they were also given the opportunity to assemble a small Liquidyne Low Cost seal. This environmentally friendly shaft seal is a sustainable alternative to conventional seals. Thanks to its water-lubricated design and reduced friction, this seal contributes to energy savings.
We hope this interactive introduction has inspired the students to further explore the fields of technology and engineering. Who knows, we may one day welcome one of these enthusiastic students as a colleague at Lagersmit!
